How to Specify a Coil Order So the Quotation Comes Back Right
Five fields settle almost every quotation: code, inner diameter, thickness, width and weight. Here is why each one matters.
The five fields
A quotation needs the code or alloy, the inner diameter, the thickness, the width and the weight. With those five the price and the lead time can be given against your exact cut instead of against a nominal stock size.
Inner diameter is not a detail
Standard inner diameters are 150, 200, 300, 400 and 500 mm for aluminium and 300, 400 and 500 mm for copper, or customised. The right answer is whatever fits the mandrel on your winding machine, so take it off the machine rather than off the last delivery note.
Minimum quantity
There is no minimum order quantity. Depending on the item and the processing there may be a minimum production run, and where that applies the quotation is still built around the quantity you actually need.
Lead time
Normally 10 to 30 days, depending on the order. Confirm it against your production slot rather than assuming the shortest figure.
Why the price moves
Aluminium is traded like all metals and is subject to market price fluctuation driven by supply, demand and other factors. A quotation is therefore tied to the metal price at the time it is issued.
After delivery
The warranty period is 12 months after delivery.
