Material for Power and Distribution Transformers
Distribution and power transformer plants buy three things from this site at once: the core steel, the winding conductor and the magnet wire. Buying them from one source removes the mismatch that shows up when a coil is wound from one supplier's foil onto another supplier's core dimension.
What this application demands
- Foil and strip slit exactly to low voltage coil width so nothing is trimmed on the winder
- Silicon steel with iron loss low enough to reach the efficiency class the tender specifies
- Enamelled rectangular wire matched to the hot spot temperature of the design
- Repeatable dimensions across repeat orders, so the winding programme does not need re-proving
Higher voltage ratings are required for wire used in power distribution systems, so the thermal and voltage class of the magnet wire is specified against the application rather than carried over from a previous job.
