Structure, alloys and finishes of 3D aluminium panels
A 3D panel is a single aluminium sheet folded or pressed into relief, with returns at the edges and stiffeners on the back where the span requires them. Alloys in the AA1100, AA3003 and AA5052 families cover most architectural work, chosen for how readily they form against the strength the geometry needs. Finishes are applied after forming so the coating follows the geometry, and include powder, fluorocarbon, anodised and wood grain systems.
