A lobby ceiling of that size cannot be held by one fixture. Beyond a certain span, a single piece becomes impossible to transport, impossible to lift and structurally awkward to hang, and the fixing points a building offers rarely sit where a single centrepiece would need them.

The installation was therefore built from repeated elements. The design work is in making repetition read as composition rather than as a grid: elements set at varied heights, so the eye follows a form through the space instead of counting identical objects.

Repetition also solves the practical problems at once. Each element travels and lifts on its own, each hangs from a fixing the building already has, and a damaged element is replaced individually rather than the whole ceiling coming down.
