Ditch steel grating
Long, narrow panels built to cover a drainage ditch run, in galvanized carbon steel or passivated stainless.
A ditch run is a length rather than an area, and it is almost never an exact multiple of a stock panel. Cutting stock panels to fit leaves a short piece at one end, an unsupported edge where it was cut, and a joint in the wrong place.
Making the panels to the run instead puts the joints where the supports are and gives every panel a finished edge. On a long run that also means the panels can be numbered, so the installer lays them in order rather than trying each one.
